Work Profile in Bariatric Surgery Specialty

2003 – Clinical nutrition internship at Royal Victoria Hospital. Nutrition intervention with bariatric
surgery patients undergoing gastric bypass.

2007 – 2011 Clinical nutrition work with bariatric surgery out-clinic patients, pre and post-op
nutrition intervention for all 4 types of bariatric surgeries (gastric sleeve, gastric band, biliopancreatic
diversion, Roux in Y), at Sacré Coeur Hospital (Montreal). Also, peri-op nutrition
intervention on hospital units.

2009 – Author of article "Nutrition Intervention with Bariatric Surgery Patients" published in the
journal of the OPDQ (Ordre Professionnel des Diététistes du Québec): Nutrition - Science
en Évolution.

January 2009 – Start of Master's degree on the topic of morbidly obese bariatric surgery patient's
nutrition and food habit profiling. Completion of M.Sc. planned for 2012.

June 2009 – Major review of the nutrition counseling questionnaire used for bariatric surgery
patients in hospital setting.
November 2009 – Monthly hospital group class sessions with bariatric surgery patients initiated as
part of the pre-op bariatric surgery program.

January 2010 – Reviewed and updated the Sacré Coeur Hospital food guide for bariatric surgery
patients. The guide was approved by the bariatric team of surgeons and is often requested
by nutritionists in other hospital centers for as a reference when counseling bariatric
surgery patients.

May 2010 – Guest speaker for clinical nutrition conference on the topic of "Bariatric Surgery
Patients and Nutrition Intervention "

September 2010 – Invited speaker on the topic of "Nutrition Intervention with Bariatric Surgery
Patients" for Université de Montréal, in the scope of their "Clinical Nutrition and
Endocrinology" class.

November 2010 – Reviewed and updated the "Bariatric Food Guide" in collaboration with Rockland
MD dietitian, for the use of Sacré Coeur Hospital and RocklandMD's surgery patients.

2011 – Involved with OPDQ (Ordre Professionel des Diététistes du Québec) for the advancement
and recognition of nutrition playing a key role in long term weight loss success of bariatric
surgery patients.

February 2011 - Abstract submitted to "Canadian Obesity Network" on the topic of the morbidly
obese bariatric surgery patient's nutrition and food habit profiling preop, for the 2nd
National Obesity Summit.

April 2011 – Recipient of honorary prize from 2nd National Obesity Summit jury for scientific poster
presentation on topic of bariatric surgery patients' nutrition and eating behavior.

May 2011 – Abstract published in Canadian Journal of Diabetes, May 2011, volume 35, #2

July 2011 – Participation in collaborative report: « Portrait des pratiques nutritionnelles en chirurgie
bariatrique au Québec » initiated Val D'Or work group.

Oct. 2011 – Guest speaker for videoconference on the topic of "Bariatric Surgery and Nutrition
Intervention" broadcasted in various hospital locations in Canada.
