Periodic health exams

Periodic medical examinations done at RocklandMD Medical Clinic are based on the latest recommendations on preventive health examsA complete and personalized evaluation is achieved through a consultation with a family physician and laboratory testing. Based on the findings, if needed, follow up care is provided.

Health Assessments

Type I

Consultation with the nurse

  • Creation of an electronic medical record
  • Completion of an initial healthcare questionnaire

Laboratory tests

  • Complete Blood Count
  • Blood type
  • Biochemistry and liver profile
  • Lipid profile
  • Thyroid profile (TSH)
  • Urine analysis
  • PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) in men 55 and over after discussion with the client
  • Thin prep test for women (if needed)
  • Fecal occult blood test every 2 years in men and women 50 and over 

Medical evaluation

  • Medical and family history
  • Lifestyle assessment: smoking, physical activity, alcohol consumption, allergies, medication
  • Complete physical exam including gynecological examination for women

Cardiorespiratory evaluation

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG)

Additional tests

  • Mammogram for women 50 and over every two years
  • Chest X-ray (if needed)
  • Osteodensitometry (if needed)
  • Colonoscopy for men and women (50 and over) (Additional fees apply)

Results

Test results and assessment findings are given and explained to the client by the doctor during the follow up visit.

Type II

Consultation with nurse

  • Vitamine D and calcium
  • Urine analysis

  • Exercise Stress Test if necessary

Nutritional evaluation

  • A 30 minute session with the dietitian-nutritionist to evaluate your eating habits in order to outline if specific dietary changes are needed along with the appropriate recommendations to help you improve your diet.

  • Mammogram for women 50 and over every two years
  • Chest X-ray (if needed)

Results

  • Test results and assessment findings are given and explained to the client by the doctor during the follow up visit.

Exam

On the day of the exam, clients must arrive fasting.  Upon arrival, the client is greeted by the nurse who explains the different steps of the health assessment process.  She will then proceed with the blood work, create the electronic medical record and collect all the medical information.  After this, the client is offered a light snack before seeing the physician.  For the Health Assessment II, the physician will supervise the stress test once the medical consultation is completed, if necessary.

Results

  • Test results and assessment findings are given and explained to the client by the doctor during the follow up visit.

Additional consultation visits

  • Three additional medical consultations can be taken at any time by the client throughout the year following the initial visit.
  • Fees associated with services (blood work, EKG and other) provided during these visits are not included.
  • These three additional medical consultations are transferable to a spouse or child in case of minor emergencies.
