A vasectomy is a minor surgery. It usually takes less than twenty minutes to complete. Following surgery, there is a quick recovery. Many patients can return to work the next day.

Vasectomy is a method of male sterilization

Vasectomy is a minor operation which involves cutting and blocking the vas deferens that carry sperm. A small opening is made in the center of the scrotum, the envelope containing the testes. The vas deferens are ligated and cut (1-2 cm), preventing the passage of sperm. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia and lasts 10 to 15 minutes.

Indications

Vasectomy is indicated if you want permanent contraception. As long as you want to maintain your fertility, you should continue the use of a reversible contraceptive method.

Advantages

Vasectomy is a minor surgery that allows you not to worry about contraception (only after confirmation of the semen analysis done after vasectomy). You will be able to resume your normal activities within days of the operation.
